পরিচয়ঃ ইহা রক অয়েল বা খনিজ তেল। ইহা একটি এন্টি-সোরিক ও এন্টি-সিফিলিটিক ঔষধ।
ধাতুগত বৈশিষ্ট্যঃ যাহাদের কেশ ও চামড়া পাতলা, যাহারা সামান্য কারণে উত্তেজিত হয়, বিবাদপ্রিয়, অতি সহজে যাহারা বিরক্ত হন, তাহাদের পীড়ায় ইহা উপযোগী। গন্ডমালাধাতুদোষ, বিশেষতঃ যাহাদের বর্ণ কাল ও যাহারা শ্লৈষ্মিক ঝিল্লীর প্রদাহ সম্ভূত অবস্থানিচয়, অম্লরোগ এবং চর্মপীড়ায় কষ্ট পায়, তাদের বেলায় ফলপ্রদ।

ক্রিয়ানাশকঃ নাক্স ভম, ককিউলাস।
ঔষধের পরিপন্থী বা অনিষ্টকর খাদ্য / Inimical food : শিম, মটর, কলাই ইত্যাদি ডাল, বাঁধাকপি, শুষ্ক খাদ্য, বায়ুবর্ধক খাদ্য, মদ্য, তামাক ।

প্রত্যেক শীতে আঙ্গুলগুলি ফাটিয়া যায় এবং পায়ে দুর্গন্ধযুক্ত ঘাম দেখা দেয়।

নৌকায় বা গাড়ীতে চড়িলে মাথা ঘুরিয়া বমি হইতে থাকে (ককুলাস, স্যানিকু) ।

ক্ষুধা পেলে পেটে যন্ত্রণা দেখা দেয় এবং কিছু খেলে যন্ত্রণার উপশম হয় (এ্যানাকার্ডিয়াম, গ্রাফাইটিস ও মেডো)।

কেবলমাত্র দিনের বেলা উদরাময়ের/ ডায়রিয়ার বৃদ্ধি।

যাহাদের সর্দি লাগিয়াই থাকে, পাকাশয়িক গোলযোগের জন্য যাহারা অম্লরোগে ভোগে, চর্মরোগ যাহাদের সহচর-পেট্রোলিয়াম তাহাদের পরম সহায়।

অতি দুর্গন্ধযুক্ত দাস্ত, সময়ে সময়ে উহার সহিত অজীর্ণ ভুক্তদ্রব্য বাহির
হয়; তৎসহ মনে হয় তাহার পাশে অপরিচিত কেহ শুইয়া আছে অথবা নিজেকেই অপর কোন
লোক বলে মনে করিয়া তাহার সহিত কথা বলে; দাস্ত শুধুমাত্র দিনের বেলা হয়-এই
লক্ষণে পেট্রোলিয়াম ঔষধ অব্যর্থ।

মায়াজমেটিক অবস্থাঃ (মায়াজমের দোষ নষ্ট করার শক্তি) :

মূল কথাঃ
- পরিচিত রাস্তা অপরিচিত মনে হয়।
- হাত পা সহ অঙ্গ প্রতঙ্গ ডবল বলিয়া মনে হয়।
- শয্যায় অপর কোন ব্যক্তি শয়ন করিয়া আছে বলিয়া মনে হয়।
- প্রসব করিবার পর মনে হয় শয্যায় দুইটি শিশু রহিয়াছে ।
- বজ্রপাতের পূর্বে ও বজ্রপাতের সময় যাবতীয় পীড়ার বৃদ্ধি (ফস, সোরিনাণ, মেডোরিন, সিপিয়া, রডো)।
- শীতকালে বৃদ্ধি হয় এমন চর্মপীড়া (এলুমিনা, সোরিনাম, ক্যাল্পেকেরিয়া সালফ, মার্ক সল, হিপার)।
- আঙ্গুলের মধ্যস্থানে, পুরুষাঙ্গে, অন্ডকোষে, অন্ডকোষ হইতে মলদ্বারের মধ্যবর্তী স্থানে, স্ত্রীলোকদের গুপ্তস্থানে চর্মপীড়া।
- প্রত্যেক শীতকালে অঙ্গ প্রতঙ্গ ও আঙ্গুল ফটিয়া যায়।(গ্রীষ্মকালে আপনা আপনি ভাল হইয়া যায়।)
- শীতকালে চর্মপীড়া বড়ই খসখসে।
- নৌকা বা জাহাজে বা যে কোন প্রকার যানবাহনে উঠিলে মাথা ধরে, গা বমি বমি হয়, বমিও হয়।
- পেটের বেদনায় কিছু খেলে উপশম হয় (এনাকার্ডিয়াম, মেডো, গ্রাফাইটিস)।
- বাঁধা কপি সহ্য করিতে পারে না, খেলে উদরাময়।

ব্যবহারস্থলঃ উদরাময়, শীত স্ফোটক, নানাবিধ চর্মরোগ, দুর্গন্ধ ঘাম, শিরঃপীড়া, চিবুকাস্থিচ্যুতি, দৃষ্টি বিকৃতি, নাসিকায় ক্ষত, দুর্গন্ধযুক্ত শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাস, কর্ণরোগ, বধিরতা, জ্বর বিকার, প্রভৃতি রোগে উপযোগী।
ক্রিয়াস্থলঃ শ্লৈষ্মিক ঝিল্লী এবং চর্মের উপরই ইহার প্রধান ক্রিয়া।
উপশম/হ্রাসঃ মাথা উঁচু বালিশে রাখিয়া শুইলে, শুষ্ক জল বায়ুতে, নাসিকা হইতে রক্তস্রাব হইলে, গরম বাতাসে, গ্রীষ্মকালে উপশম।
বৃদ্ধিঃ উদ্ভেদসমূহ শীতকালে বৃদ্ধি পায়; বজ্র ঝটিকার পূর্বে ও সময়ে, গাড়ীতে বা জাহাজে চড়িলে, শীতকালে, ক্রোধ হইলে, ভয় পাইলে, কোনরূপ মানসিক পরিশ্রম করিলে, আলোকে, শব্দে, আহারাদির পরে, বসিলে, উত্তাপে, বাঁধাকপি খাইলে বৃদ্ধি।
ক্রিয়া স্থিতিকালঃ ৩৫-৫০ দিন।

Coal or Rock Oil. (Anthracite)
- Adapted to persons with light hair and skin; irritable, quarrelsome disposition (Nux); easily offended at trifles (Ign., Med.); vexed at everything.
- Ailments: from riding in a carriage, railroad car, or in a ship (Coc., Sanic.).
- Ailments which are worse before and during a thunderstorm (Nat. c., Phos., Psor.).
- Symptoms appear and disappear rapidly (Bell., Mag. p. - reverse of Plat., Stan.).
- During sleep or delirium: imagines that one leg is double; that another person lies alongside of him in same bed; that there are two babies in the bed (Val.).
- Vertigo on rising (Bry.); in occiput; as if intoxicated; like seasickness (Coc.).
- Headache: in occiput, which is as heavy as lead; pressing, pulsating pain; as if everything in the head were alive; numb, bruised, as if made of wood.
- Gastralgia: of pregnancy; with pressing, drawing pains; whenever stomach is empty; relieved by constant eating (Anac., Chel., Sep.).
- Diarrhoea: yellow, watery, gushing; after cabbage, sour krout; during pregnancy, stormy weather; always in the daytime.
- Painful sensitiveness of skin of whole body; all clothing is painful; slight injury suppurates (Hep.).
- Skin of hands rough, cracked, tips of fingers rough, cracked, fissured, every winter; tenderness of the feet, which are bathed in foul-smelling sweat (Graph., Sanic., Sil.).
- Herpes: of genital organs extending to perineum and thighs; itching, redness; skin cracked, rough, bleeding; dry or moist.
- Heat and burning of soles of feet and palms of hands (Sang., Sulph.).
- Sweat and moisture of external genitals, both sexes.
- Painful, itching chilblains and chapped hands < in cold weather; decubitus. Sensation of coldness about the heart (Carbo an., Kali m., Nat. m.).
Relations:
One of our best antidotes for lead poisoning. The skin symptoms are worse in winter, better in summer (Alum.); if suppressed, causes diarrhoea.
Aggravation:
Carriage riding (Coc., Sanic.); during a thunderstorm; in winter (Alum.).

Crude Rock-oil
- Strumous diathesis, especially the dark type, who suffer from catarrhal conditions of the mucous membranes, gastric acidity and cutaneous eruptions.
- Very marked skin symptoms, acting on sweat and oil glands;
- Ailments are worse during the winter season.
- Ailments from riding in cars, carriages, or ships; lingering gastric and lung troubles; chronic diarrhoea.
- Long-lasting complaints follow mental states-fright, vexation, etc.
- Chlorosis in young girls with or without ulceration of the stomach.
Mind:
- Marked aggravation from mental emotions.
- Loses his way in streets.
- Thinks he is double, or some one else lying alongside.

Feels that death is near, and must hurry to settle affairs.
- Irritable, easily offended, vexed at everything.
- Low-spirited, with dimness of sight.
Head:
- Sensitive, as of a cold breeze blowing on it.
- Feels numb, as if made of wood; occiput heavy, as of lead (Opium).
- Vertigo on rising, felt in occiput, as if intoxicated, or like sea-sickness.
- Moist eruption on scalp; worse, back and ears.
- Scalp sore to touch, followed by numbness.
- Headache, must hold temples to relieve; provoked by shaking while coughing.
- Use thirtieth.
Eyes:
- Loss of eyelashes.
- Dim sight; far-sighted; cannot read fine print without glasses; blenorrhśa of lachrymal sac; marginal blepharitis.
- Canthi fissured.
- Skin around eyes dry and scurfy.
Ears:
- Noise unbearable, especially from several people talking together.
- Eczema, intertrigo, etc, in and behind ears, with intense itching.
- Parts sore to touch.
- Fissures in meatus.
- Dry catarrh, with deafness and noises.
- Ringing and cracking in ears.
- Chronic Eustachian catarrh.
- Diminished hearing.
Nose:
- Nostrils ulcerated, cracked, burn; tip of nose itches.
- Epistaxis.
- Ozona, with scabs and muco-purulent discharge.
Face:
- Dry; feels constricted, as if covered with albumin.
Stomach:
- Heartburn; hot, sharp, sour eructation.
- Distention.
- Feeling of great emptiness.
- Strong aversion to fat food, meat; worse, eating cabbage.
- Hunger, immediately after stool.
- Nausea, with accumulation of water in mouth.
- Gastralgia when stomach is empty; relieved by constant eating (Anac; Sep).
- Ravenous hunger.
- Must rise at night and eat (Psorin).
- Odor of garlic.
Abdomen:
- Diarrhoea only in the daytime; watery, gushing and Itching of anus.
- After cabbage; with empty feeling of stomach.
Male:
- Herpetic eruption on perineum.
- Prostate inflamed and swollen.
- Itching in urethra.
Female:
- Before menses, throbbing in head (Kreos).
- Leucorrhea, profuse, albuminous (Alum; Bor; Bov; Calc p).
- Genitals sore and moist.
- Sensation of moisture (Eup purp).
- Itching and mealy coating of nipple.
Respiratory:
- Hoarseness (Carbo; Caust; Phos) dry cough and oppression of chest; worse, cold air.
- Dry cough at night, coming deep from chest.
- Croup and laryngeal diphtheria.
Heart:
- Sensation of coldness (Carb an; Nat mur).
- Fainting, with ebullitions, heat and palpitation.
Back:
- Pain in nape of neck, stiff and painful.
- Weakness in small of back.
- Coccyx painful.
Extremities:
- Chronic sprains.
- Fetid sweat in axilla.
- Knees stiff.

Tips of fingers rough, cracked, fissured every winter.
- Scalding sensation in knee.
- Cracking in joints.
Skin:
- Itching at night.
- Chilblains, moist, itch and burn.
- Bed-sores.

Skin dry, constricted, very sensitive, rough and cracked, leathery.
- Herpes.
- Slightest scratch makes skin suppurate (Hepar).
- Intertrigo; psoriasis of hands.

Thick, greenish crusts, burning and itching; redness, raw; cracks bleed easily.
- Eczema.
- Rhagades worse in winter.
Fever:
- Chilliness, followed by sweat.
- Flushes of heat, particularly of the face and head; worse at night.
- Perspiration on feet and axilla.
Modalities:
- Worse, dampness, before and during a thunder-storm, from riding in cars, passive motion; in winter, eating, from mental states.
- Better, warm air; lying with head high; dry weather.
Relationship:
- Compare: Carbo; Graph; Sulph; Phos.
- Complementary: Sepia.
- Antidotes: Nux; Coccul.
Dose:
- Third to thirtieth and higher potencies.
- Material doses often better.

Petroleum
- Eczemas, on scalp, behind ears, scrotum, anus, hands, feet, legs; hands chap and bleed; all < in winter; get better in summer.
- Diarrhoea preceded by colic, only in the day-time.
- Headache, or heaviness like lead in the occiput; sometimes with nausea on vomiting; < by motion, as in riding in boat or carriage.
- One of our best anti-psoric remedies.
- Again, Petroleum is one of our best remedies for seasickness. In this it resembles Cocculus.
